Important: Attune is a communication practice tool. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care and cannot help in a crisis. If you are experiencing an emergency or thoughts of harm, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). If you are outside the United States, please contact your local emergency services.
Attune provides AI-powered communication practice scenarios designed to be used as between-session homework under the guidance of a licensed therapist. It is a practice tool, not a licensed mental health service, not a clinical platform, and not a replacement for therapy.
Attune does not provide diagnoses, clinical assessments, or treatment recommendations. Nothing in the app constitutes medical or psychological advice.
By creating an account, accessing, or using Attune, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you have questions or concerns about these terms, please reach out to us at support@tryattune.app before using the service.
Attune is currently in a closed pilot. Access is by invitation only. To use Attune as a client, you must be invited by a therapist participating in the pilot. You must be 18 years of age or older. Attune is designed for adult communication patterns and has not been evaluated for use by individuals under 18.
Attune provides tools to help therapists manage between-session practice, including client invitation flows, session summaries, and reflection notes. Within this framework, therapists have specific responsibilities outlined in Section 11 (Shared responsibility), including determining appropriateness for each client and obtaining informed consent before assigning scenarios. Therapists are responsible for maintaining compliance with their professional licensing and ethical obligations in their jurisdiction.
To keep Attune safe for everyone, you agree not to:
You own your data. By using Attune, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide the service: generating AI responses, producing session summaries, and making those summaries available to your assigned therapist. Neither Attune nor our AI infrastructure provider use your conversation data to train AI models.
Conversation transcripts are automatically deleted after your session summary is generated. Only the summary and your reflection are retained. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Attune uses AI to power practice conversations and generate session summaries. The practice partner is not a human, is not supervised in real time by a therapist, and may occasionally produce responses that do not perfectly fit your situation. AI-generated summaries are not clinical assessments. Always discuss them with your therapist before acting on them.
If the AI practice partner says something that feels wrong or upsetting, you can end the session at any time and let your therapist know. Your safety and comfort are more important than completing a practice session.
The Attune service, including its user interface, content, and underlying systems, is the property of Attune's operating company. You retain ownership of all content you input into the service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the service.
During the pilot, Attune is under active development. We are working to improve reliability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. The pilot may end at any time with reasonable notice.
Account data (profile, summaries, reflections) is retained for up to 30 days after account termination, and then permanently deleted.
HIPAA notice: Attune is not currently a HIPAA-covered entity and does not offer a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). We are migrating to HIPAA-eligible infrastructure and intend to offer BAAs in a future release. Therapists should consider this when determining whether Attune is appropriate for their practice and jurisdiction. If HIPAA compliance is a requirement for your use case, please contact us to discuss our roadmap.
Attune is a practice tool, and outcomes depend on how it is used within your therapeutic relationship. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Attune and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including clinical, psychological, or emotional outcomes arising from your use of the service or reliance on AI-generated content. As described in Section 7, AI-generated content should always be discussed with your therapist.
Our total liability in any circumstance is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months.
What Attune is responsible for: We are responsible for providing a service that functions as described, keeping your data secure, deleting transcripts as promised, and making reasonable efforts to ensure the AI practice partner behaves within its designed guidelines. If we fail to meet these commitments, we will work with you to make it right.
What therapists are responsible for: Attune is a practice tool, not a clinical system. Therapists using Attune agree to take responsibility for:
Indemnification. Because clinical decisions remain with the therapist, therapists agree to indemnify and hold harmless (meaning agree to cover any costs or claims that arise from) Attune for claims arising from clinical decisions, failure to obtain informed consent, or use of the service outside the scope described in these terms.
You may stop using Attune at any time and request account deletion by emailing support@tryattune.app. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. Where possible, we will provide notice before taking action. On termination, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
If a therapist's account is terminated, their clients will be notified and given the opportunity to request data deletion.
We want to resolve problems quickly and fairly. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Talk to us first. Before taking any formal action, please contact us at support@tryattune.app. We commit to responding within 5 business days and working with you to resolve the issue informally for at least 30 days before either party pursues other remedies.
Arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, either party may initiate binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. You may choose to participate remotely or in person in King County, Washington. The arbitrator's decision is final and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Individual claims only. Disputes will be resolved on an individual basis, not as part of a class or representative action. If this provision is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration section shall be void and disputes will proceed in court.
Your right to opt out. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing support@tryattune.app within 30 days of creating your account. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of King County, Washington. Opting out will not affect your ability to use Attune.
We may update these terms as the product evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 7 days before they take effect. Non-material changes (such as formatting or clarifying existing language) may be made without advance notice. If you have concerns about updated terms, please contact us before the effective date. Continued use after that date means you accept the changes.
Severability. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Service interruptions. Attune relies on third-party infrastructure to operate. We are not liable for service interruptions caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting, AI, or database providers. We will communicate known disruptions as promptly as we can.
Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Attune. The English-language version of these terms controls if any translated version conflicts.
Questions about these terms? Email us at support@tryattune.app. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
